We Help You Navigate the Education System

25f5rvro.png

SOS4Students partners with students and their families to help them successfully navigate the education system. By providing guidance and support, we empower students to become more self-sufficient while also strengthening family relationships. This collaborative approach often makes a significant difference in helping students stay on track and reach their full potential.

How SOS4Students Coaches Support Families:

  • Advocate for students and families throughout the education process

  • Collaborate with parents and schools to create or enhance IEP and 504 plans

  • Provide parents with a clear understanding of their rights and assist in communicating with school administrators and teachers

  • Attend school meetings, IEP sessions, and Student Study Team meetings to ensure students receive the support they need

Student Advocacy

SOS4Students coaches collaborate with school staff to make thoughtful adjustments to curriculum delivery, assignments, or classroom expectations that better support each student’s needs. Our approach is centered on teamwork—bringing together parents, students, coaches, and educators to ensure consistent and effective support. To gain a deeper understanding of each student’s challenges, our coaches may participate in school meetings, IEP sessions, or Student Study Team discussions. This involvement also helps communicate clearly what resources and accommodations the school can provide to benefit the student.

Legal Processes

Although SOS4Students is well-informed about educational rights and responsibilities, we are not a source of legal advice. When legal guidance is necessary, we will readily recommend that families seek assistance from a qualified attorney.

Consulting On IEP & 504 Plans

SOS4Students Director, Beth Samuelson, offers consultations for parents seeking guidance in working with schools to develop or improve an IEP or 504 plan. She can review testing results, clarify student needs, and help communicate those needs effectively with school staff. Consultations may be scheduled as a single one-hour session or a series of meetings, and can also include Beth’s participation in the IEP meeting itself.
